Car Feature: Joshua Leach’s 1972 Bluebird Deluxe sedan

For this feature we have one of the best looking Bluebird Deluxe sedans I have seen in a while… The car belongs to a young guy named Joshua Leach, who has now owned it for the last 1 & 1/2 years and has been using it as his daily driver, just the way it should be done! πŸ˜€

Joshua acquired the car from a Japanese gentleman when he was just 17 years old and a senior in high school. (Sounds familiar…) The Japanese gentleman had imported the car to California from Japan, but sold the car to Joshua as he was moving back to Japan. Interestingly, Joshua mentioned that the car is designated as a N510 because it is powered by an L14 engine. Pretty cool eh? πŸ˜‰

The car is sitting pretty thanks to a set of Nissan Comp coils that were cut to lower it. Rolling stock is a set of fantastic looking 3 piece Techno Phantom Superstar racing rims in a size of 13″ (Any bigger would just not be right on this car…) and the tires are Sumitomo HTR200 in a size of 175/50/R13. Beautiful stuff…

The interior of this car draws me in with all the awesome two tone colour schemes going on… I just love it! The dashboard is two tone black and brown (first time I have seen this ever!)… And it still had the original radio…

… while the door panels are a two tone white and brown. They look great! The seats and headliner are all stock white, and look just as sweet! I love this interior… πŸ˜€

The steering wheel you see in the photos above has now been replaced with a wooden Nardi wheel, which goes quite nicely with the two tone dashboard, as well as the original radio.

I am not sure why, but I love the tail lights on this car, they just look so different to the usual P510 lights… Maybe it is because there aren’t any P510’s in South Africa with these lights? The panel between the lights also looks sweet, something different to the look at. πŸ™‚

Joshua’s short term plans are a Z24 engine swap with dual 40mm Mikunis, but he plans on building a Z24 bottom end with an L-series A87 head with dual 50mm Mikunis shortly after. Fully adjustable coilovers and a rear disc brake conversion with an e-brake are also on the cards. Sounds tasty to me! πŸ˜€

In his own words: “My long term goal is to have it out perform most cars today, making every upgrade along the way while still giving it a classic appeal.”

Can’t help but be excited to see the finished product of this stunning example of a Bluebird sedan…
