The One Year Anniversary Post!!

So, this time exactly a year ago, I started this blog with the aim of just trying to understand what this “blogging” fad was all about. I kept reading about this blog and that blogger, and could not make heads, nor tails, of it all. A quick google search later led me to the homepage, where I found that you can start your own basic blog for free!!
So, I sat there and thought to myself, I need to come up with an interesting and catchy name for my new blog, something that would bring across the main theme that the blog would follow. Thanks to Google Translate, I was able to directly translate the words “Datsun Crazy!” into Japanese, to end up with the “Dattosan Kureiji!” moniker, which I felt was rather quite unique… Even if I do say so myself. ๐Ÿ˜€

Never did I think that this blog would turn out to be as popular as it has been, or that I would actually end up loving this whole blogging thing so much! It has been a great journey, meeting and talking to people that actually know my grandparents personally, that competed in rallies against them, and even the families of the people that were a part of my grandfather’s team throughout his career! The amount of people that have visited this blog has been staggering, and at a little over 53 400 views and 225 individual comments, I feel the blog has been quite successful seeing that it only focuses on one topic.

To commemorate this milestone, I felt it fitting to share with you all the story of my grandfather, as documented by the Castrol (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd. on the occasion of my grandfather’s retirement from professional rallying in 1971… I do hope you will enjoy reading this, and that you will perhaps realise thereafter why I am so incredibly proud of his achievements… ๐Ÿ™‚
